Shooting Star Casino Hotel

Kenora, Canada 86 contributions 69 helpful votes. We have been visiting this casino for over 25 years. While I have pointed out in previous reviews many good things about the Shooting Star, I will restrict this review to two negative comments.

One of the leading causes of cancer is smoke inhalation. In Canada, all casinos are smoke-free and this does not appear to have affected gambling to any discernible degree.

Some casinos have outside patios and some even have smoking rooms. When we return to the smoke-free atmosphere of our rooms accolades for prohibiting this in the hotel , our clothes reek of smoke and our lungs suffer the consequences.

I suggest that all casino managers in Minnesota meet to discuss mutually banning smoking at all their locations! This would make many people very happy and perhaps even promote new clientele supporting a healthier environment.

My second observation has to do with promotions. The reward terminals provide a lot of information however some promos are only confirmed by waiting in the Star Rewards line-up to talk to attendants Richard is particularly adept at providing reliable and complete information.

Transparency should be the norm thus there should be no need to ask about available perks such as dining credits, Canadian at par, etc….

ALL promotions should be revealed when you access your account on terminals. Otherwise confusion reigns and trickery or deception could be perceived.

Many paying customers are elderly and should not be taken advantage of. It is time for some positive changes to take place!

The front desk lady was no help. She said closest place to park, but no other helpful tips. The room was reasonably clean.

You can tell it is old. The bed was comfortable. Overall it was ok. Won a bit at the casino, so that made it more fun.

I booked into the Main Lodge, and was satisfied with my room. The bed was comfortable along with the pillows. The food was great, but the coffee leaves a lot to be desired.

The casino has no shortage of new slot machines. The Stardust Lodge is connected via a skywalk. Date of stay: October Value.

Upon checking in, we were told that their players club specials were not available on weekends even though the signs had special rates listed for Friday and Saturday.

Upon checking into our room we were pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the room however the TV got very bad reception and was programmed to only go home to volume level 8?

The pool was also out of towels and after multiple guests and the security guard went to the front desk, still no towels were delivered in the next hour.

We left the pool soaking wet. On the bright side, the casino buffet and playing floor were both very enjoyable.
